26 "Austin Powers" Scenes That Still Make Me Laugh Even Though They're Insanely Stupid

Maybe I have the mind of a 14-year-old boy, but I still think the Austin Powers movies are peak comedy.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me is the funniest movie of all time.

They’re stupid, crass, and sexual, but also filled with a bunch of hilarious puns and quotable moments.

New Line Cinema

They’ve aged way better than similar movies from the 1990s/2000s. Plus, they have great soundtracks!

Below, I’ve compiled 26 moments from the Austin Powers films that still make me laugh after all this time, no matter how stupid they are.

Warner Bros. Pictures

My family still quotes these.

1. When one of Dr. Evil’s minions would answer questions if they were asked three times:

Austin asks "who sent you" and Mustafa won't reply until he asks 3 times, when he says "Dr. Evil." Felicity asks why he told them and he says he can't stand to be asked the same question 3 times because it irritates him

New Line Cinema

I don’t know why, but this scene is hilarious every time. It’s just so stupid it’s funny, especially when they start arguing about which questions count for the three-question rule.

2. When Dr. Evil and Scott went to a father-son support group and Dr. Evil admitted that he was trying to kill Scott:

Scott says he thinks Dr. Evil wants to kill him and the therapist says that we might say we want to kill our dads sometimes but we don't mean it while everyone laughs, and Dr. Evil says, "Actually, the boy's quite astute, I really am trying to kill him"

New Line Cinema

And then he goes, “He’s quite stubborn — he takes after his old man that way.” Gets me every time.

3. And then the therapist asked Dr. Evil about his childhood and he said it was “typical”:

Dr. Evil says, "My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets"

New Line Cinema

My father can quote this whole speech.

4. When Dr. Evil and Scott went on Maury and Dr. Evil called Scott “the Diet Coke of evil”:

Scott asks why Dr. Evil walked out on him and Dr. Evil says it's because Scott isn't evil enough

New Line Cinema

Who thought of putting Dr. Evil on Maury?? It’s genius.

5. When Dr. Evil got stuck in his rotating chair:

Dr. Evil stuck on the chair saying, "All I asked for was a frikken rotating chair...getting a little afraid...the power of Christ compels you!"

New Line Cinema

I feel like Mike Myers just improvised half of this.

6. Everything about the “Just the Two of Us” scene:

Dr. Evil rapping "from the moment I heard Frau say I had a clone, I knew that I'd be safe 'cause I'd never be alone. An evil doctor shouldn't speak a lot about his feelings, my hurt and my pain don't make me too appealing"

New Line Cinema

This song is an actual bop.

7. And the “Hard Knock Life” scene:

Dr. Evil and Mini Me in jail asking how an inmate is sleeping

New Line Cinema

So ridiculous.

8. When Dr. Evil was tired of Scott interrupting him, so he kept coming up with new and inventive ways to tell Scott to “zip it”:

Dr. Evil saying "E-zip-it A! Look, I'm Zippy Longstocking! When a problem comes along, you must zip it!"

New Line Cinema

9. When Austin made this A+ pun:

"You know, Dr. Evil, I used to think you were crazy, but now I can see you're nuts"

New Line Cinema

A double entendre Shakespeare would be proud of.

10. When Austin was attacked in a toilet stall and the guy in the stall next to him thought he was just going to the bathroom:

Austin asking "Who does number 2 work for?" and the guy next to him responding "That's right, buddy, you show that turd who's boss"

New Line Cinema

I hate that I laughed so much.

11. When Dr. Evil’s rocket launched and everyone kept trying to say what it looked like:

A man says "It looks like a giant..." Then the scene transitions to another man saying "Dick! Take a look out of starboard!" and his colleague responding "It looks like a huge..." then the scene transitions to a woman saying "Pecker!" while bird watching

New Line Cinema

Is this stupid, or is it the cleverest movie scene of all time?

12. When Austin showed his directing skills in this photo session:

Austin telling 2 models "You're a tiger! You're Tony the Tiger! You're grrrreat! Now you're a lemur, running as a pack...Burrow! That's right, you're a lemur, it's all you've got! You don't have sharp teeth capable of biting!"

New Line Cinema

The movies were filled with toilet and sexual humor, but the funniest moments had nothing to do with either.

13. When Austin was relieved that the capitalists were brought down:

The unenthusiastic “Yay, capitalism” is me.

14. When Scott had an outburst that was at the same time very normal for a teenager, and very not:

New Line Cinema

Did the Powerpuff Girls ever have this exchange with Professor Utonium?

15. When the movies ripped off Godzilla without ripping off Godzilla:

a man saying "Run! It's Godzilla!" and another man replying "It looks like Godzilla, but due to international copyright laws, it's not!"

I loved when the movies broke the fourth wall or got all self-referential.

16. When Austin tried to copy Felicity’s exit from the water…

New Line Cinema

…wearing a matching bathing suit.

17. When Dr. Evil’s team kept shooting down his ideas because they’d already happened:

Dr. Evil suggests blackmailing the Royal Family threatening to spread a rumor of Charles's infidelity then threatening to make a hole in the ozone layer, and Number 2 tells him both have happened

New Line Cinema

They could’ve gone all day with this.

18. When Austin misunderstood what Felicity meant:

Austin is massaging Felicity and asks "how does that feel, baby?" and she says to go lower so he lowers his voice

New Line Cinema

Amelia Bedelia, is that you?

19. When Felicity was pulling stuff out of Austin’s bag and through the tent, it looked as if she was pulling a ton of objects from his butt:

New Line Cinema

Was it mature humor? No. Was it hilarious? Absolutely.

20. When Dr. Evil jumped into his time machine but it wasn’t on yet, so he fell down the ramp:

New Line Cinema

One thing I never got, though, was how he seemed to forget Mini-Me here and then he brings him once the machine is on. I’m not *overly* concerned with Austin Powers plot holes, though.

21. When Dr. Evil kept hitting Number 2 with a giant rubber ball of the Earth after bouncing it like a basketball:

New Line Cinema

It’s even funnier because it’s Rob Lowe.

22. When Dr. Evil was not here for anyone not calling him by the correct title:

"It's Dr. Evil, I didn't spend 6 years in Evil Medical School to be called mister, thank you never much"

New Line Cinema

Rude.

23. When Austin’s father contradicted himself:

"There are only 2 things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch"

New Line Cinema

An iconic line.

24. When Austin described himself “in a nutshell,” then took things a little literally:

New Line Cinema

Another VERY quotable line, but only if you do the movement with it.

25. When Austin struggled to do a three-point turn:

This is literally me every time I try to do a three-point turn.

26. And finally, when Austin had a Freudian slip:

Dr. Evil accuses Austin of having daddy issues and he replies, "Nothing could be my father from the truth"

The puns in these movies were on point.
